When I created this website we were at the height of the great recession. The country was loosing tens of thousands of jobs every month, credit lines ceased up, congress was trying to do more than nothing to solve the problem, and millions of Americans were falling behind on their mortgages. Sometimes we forget how alarming 2008 and 2009 were. Sure we’ve been stagnant at best in the years since, but that economic crisis has forever changed the rental and real estate market at a whole.
Rushing out to get an apartment straight out of high school prior to 2008′s crash wasn’t exactly brilliant, but you could pull it off with virtually no savings. Nowadays you aren’t going to find a landlord that’s going to let you do that. Unless of course you’ve got money in the bank, or your parents are co-signing that lease. The purpose of this project is to help people make informed decisions, so they take the strategic route rather than going in guns ‘a blazing.
